Simple Copic Background Tutorial

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing a little tutorial on an easy, simple background I made for Copic Marker Europe. I love images with white space around them, but I also like how different you can make your image look by filling that space and adding a coloured background. Even with no background stamps near at hand, you can create simple ones. Today we are simply going to place our character in a room and imagine a wall behind her and carpeting on the floor.

The stamp I'm using for this tutorial is an "old" Gorjuss Girl stamp called Bear Hugs by Sugar Nellie.

Step 1

Stamp your character and with ruler and a Copic Multiliner (mine is black 0.05), draw two lines representing a skirting board.

Step 2

Choose a Copic for your background - mine is YR61 - and colour doing small circular movements. The aim is not to have a totally smooth wall, but rather mimic variations in the paint.

Step 3

For the carpeting, select 3 or 4 markers in the same shade. I'm going to use E40, 41, 42, 43. First colour the whole floor surface with your lightest marker (E40), then make little dots in the foreground with your darkest colour (E43).

Step 4

Take your next colour, one shade lighter (E42), go over the E43 dots you have just done and widen the dotted area going towards the background.

Step 5

Do the same with your E41, going over the E42 area and widening that dotted area even more.

Step 6

Take your lightest colour E40 and keep doing dots until you reach the skirting board.

Step 7

Colour the board (E44 here) and your character (details of colours below).

Step 8

With Copic Opaque White or a white pen, add little dots on the wall. (I have also added my sentiment, by Paper Smooches.)

Then trim your image as desired and put on a card :)

Skin: E000, 00, 11, 71
Hair: 100, BV04, C5, 7, 9
Blue: B34, 37, 39
White on Dress and Socks: W0, 1, 3
Bear: E30, 31, 33, 35, R20
Background: YR61
Floor: E40, 41, 42, 43
Board: E44

Make it Crafty Jena

Hello everyone! I'm sharing a Make it Crafty spring card today - yes, now Christmas is behind us, let's say spring is almost here!

For my card today, I used the adorable Jena from the Spring Blue Birds Jena rubber stamp set (she is also available as a digi if you prefer digis). I stamped her on Canson Montval watercolour paper in Versafine Ink and coloured her with my all brand new Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens - so fun to play with new pens ;)! I also used my watercolour pans to add a bit of grass at the bottom of my image. Then I stamped a CC Designs sentiment in Versamark and embossed it in white.

I started by drawing around my hair template in pencil, then stamped the face and drew around my template for the neck with a back pen. Almost all the colouring was done using Zig pens. MiC CAS Challenge - Cut Out Colour Pop!

Hello everyone! I'm back to share my inspiration card for our CAS Challenge at Make it Crafty - "Cut Out Colour Pop"! The idea is to pop some colour behind a large cut out area and leaving the front of your card base white. Here is what I have done...

Emily copyr mic wtmkk

I have used the adorable Emily Sitting Politely image, cropped it in Words and printed it on Make it Colour Blending Card. I coloured her in Copics then cut her out. For the card base, I used a piece of white cardstock and a Circle Nestabilities Die. My "Colour Pop" was done using a pink heart DP by Doodlebug to match the colours of Emily. I then stamped a Heidi Swapp sentiment on the card base and simply adhered Emily to it. Here are the colours I used:

Skin: E000, 00, 11, 71, R20
Hair: 100, BV04, C5, 7, 9
Red: C5, 7, R35, 37, 39, 89
Pink: R81, 83, 85 (BV20 for shading)
Gold: Y01, 21, 26

Little tutorial for the 12 Days of Krafty Handmade Giving!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Day 11 of The 12 Days of Krafty Handmade Giving! As you may know, each day from December 1st-12th the DT are sharing lots of handmade goodies on the KKS blog featuring Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! We know that you're always looking for fun things to create besides cards but especially at this time of year! So we've got lots of amazing and creative things to share from tags, to notepads, to holiday decor!

I decided to make a few place cards for the dinner table for guests, nice on a table and which can be kept as little souvenirs. Here is what I used for mine:

Black Cardstock
Scoring Board
Gold paint marker
Letter Stickers
Some of your favourite Kraftin' Kimmie stamps
Colouring Medium

Step 1

Select some of your favourite stamps, bearing in mind that you want to use mostly the heads of the characters, which will need to fill some of the space on the side of the card. You can also choose stamps to match the personality of your guests :)
The 3 stamps I have chosen are Snow Days, Oh, Snap! and Lana.

Step 2

In your black cardstock, cut three 3.5 x 3.5" squares to make your three place cards. Please note, I first measured the heads of my characters and thought about where it would be nice to cut them/ chop off their heads before deciding on the size of my cards.

Step 3

Score your squares at 1.75" to create the base of the place cards.

Step 4

Colour your images - I used Copics for mine - cut the bottom of the images with your paper trimmer and fussy cut the rest of the images.

Step 5

With a gold paint pen, create a frame you like to add interest to your place cards.

Step 6

Stick your image to one side of the card and add names using stickers as I have done - or in your own handwriting if you feel confident enough - not my case ;)

Copics used for "Anne":
Skin: E000, 00, 11, 71, R20
Hair: BV04, C7, 9
Clothes: C5, R35, 37, 39, 81, 83, 85, W1, 3
Glasses: BG000, C7, 9, Y26

Here is the second place card I have created:

Skin: E000, 00, 11, 71, R20
Hair: E25, 31, 59
Clothes: V09, 15, 17
Camera: BG000, C7, 9, R35

And the third one - my favourite :P - for the KKS boss lady ;)...

Skin: E000, 00, 11, 71, R20
Hair: E51, 53, 55
Clothes: C5, R35, 37, 39, W1, 3

And the three of them together!

Thank you very much for your visit, have a great day! Hugs,
Delphine xx
